On your reverse osmosis system, the shut-off valve is found on top of the unit just behind the membrane and secondary filter. This is what regulates when the RO system knows when to stop running water. If necessary, is a very easy part to replace.

The drain restrictor is placed on the drain line of your reverse osmosis system. It regulate the direction and flow of the water being drained from the system and prevents backflow.

If you plan on servicing your reverse osmosis system yourself, a good filter wrench is a must-have. Its grooves allow you to latch on to the corresponding ridges on the filter canisters and its long handle provides the leverage necessary to both loosen and tighten the canisters as needed.

A TDS tester tests the Total Dissolved Solids found in the water. This is an excellent product to have in your home. At any given time you can test the quality of your drinking water to see if it is providing you with the clean water you are looking for.

On your reverse osmosis unit there are several filters that need to be changed yearly. These are the two (or three, depending on the unit) filter canisters that hang vertically from the bottom of the RO system. Looking at the RO system from the front, the filter on the left is the Pre Sediment filter, and the one on the right is the Carbon Block filter. The pre sediment filter is the all-white filter. The carbon block filter is the filter with plastic on both the top and bottom and has a mesh-looking material wrapped around it. There are also rubber gaskets on the top and bottom of the carbon block filter. If you are changing the filters and find that one of these rubber seals is stuck at the bottom of the canister, be sure to remove it before inserting the new filter. If your unit has three canisters on the bottom, it will require one pre sediment filter on the left canister, and two carbon block filters: one in the middle canister and one in the canister on the right.

This is the first filter to begin the cleaning process. It is placed in the bottom left canister where the water first enters the RO system.

The carbon block filter is the second phase of filtration. It is placed in the bottom right canister. On RO systems with three canisters on the bottom, carbon block filters will be placed in both the center and right canisters on the bottom.

This filter is installed on the RO system as its final phase of filtration on the Dana 6 High pH RO system and the second-to-last phase on the Dana 7 Hydro drinking water system. It is used to raise the pH of the water to an alkaline level, which is much healthier with acidic water, which is common in traditional RO systems. This filter can be installed in an existing standard reverse osmosis system.
